Remember us telling you about the Yakuza series game that would come to the PSP? It was codenamed “Project K,” and we knew very little about it. Now we know the game’s name and even have a release date.
Guess what? The game keeps with the Japanese series name Ryu ga Gotoku. This new one is called Kurohyou Ryu ga Gotoku Shinshou, or Black Leopard: Ryu ga Gotoku New Chapter. If it comes out here (please?!) then it will be called something like Black Leopard: New Yakuza or something.
We have a few new details from the latest Famitsu story. The game will release on the PSP in Japan on September 22, which means we’ll likely see a heavy push during Tokyo Game Show. It is priced at 6,279 yen on UMD and 5,600 yen in downloadable form. The game will include 300 minutes of voice in story scenes. While no specific gameplay details were given, Famitsu does say that the game will try to recreate the harshness of fighting, whatever that means.
Expect to hear more from Sega very soon. Sega, please release this in North America!

Nippon Ichi claims that its new dungeon-crawling PSP RPG Zettai Hero Kaizou Keikaku (Ultimate Hero Modding Project), can be replayed approximately forty million times.
The reasoning behind this modest claim lies in the ability to customize your hero’s equipment, abilities and statistics in a ridiculous number of ways, exploring randomly generated maps infested with enemies, deadly traps and an insane sense of humor.
The hero “Absolutely Victorious Make-Ranger,” was run over by a car on his way to fight the Last Boss, “Demon General Mr. Tanaka DEATH-DARK!!!” You, the protagonist, happened to be buying groceries nearby, were thus selected to inherit the mantle, and the duty to defeat the Demon General. Of course, you’ll need to undergo a lot of special training by crawling through a series of randomly generated, isometric-perspective dungeons infested with monsters.
Thankfully, you’ve got myriad pieces of equipment, including handguns, lances, swords, drill arms, tank legs, gatling guns, extendo-claws, cat ears, Prinny hats, angel halos, chonmage, and other such things in your arsenal. That, combined with a fully customizable stat grid and hideout, should help you grasp victory without too many deaths.
Anime fans will also be delighted to know that several anime characters (and their signature weapons), will be making appearances, including Taiga of Toradora!, Dokuro-chan from Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan, Shana from Shakugan no Shana, and Spice & Wolf’s Holo. Are you reading this, Brad Rice? Taiga is in this game.
The game is out on March 11th in Japan, and so far there hasn’t been word on an English release, but you can check some screenshots and a trailer narrated by the wonderful lisp of Norio Wakamoto below.
Just when I was wondering what on Earth happened to Blood Bowl, here comes Southpeak to announce that the Warhammer-flavored football game is due for a retail release in January 2010.
Previously only available as a downloadable PC game and released with very little fanfare, a boxed PC version, an Xbox 360 version and a PSP version are all planned. The PSP version will arrive later than the others, coming some time in the Spring.
Blood Bowl quietly hit the downloadable market back in June and received fairly decent reviews. I’ve been meaning to play it for ages, even though a review would be ludicrously late, but this news might make it relevant again. In any case, this is coming out very soon. 2010 is f*cking full of stuff.
MIDLOTHIAN, VA – December 29, 2009 – Leading videogame publisher, SouthPeak Games, today announced Blood Bowl® for Windows PC, the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system coming in 2010. The hard-hitting fantasy football title previously available exclusively as a Windows PC downloadable game is lobbing a ‘Hail Mary’ pass straight onto retail shelves in 2010.
Just in time for the human football season’s end, SouthPeak is here to offer a less than traditional spin on classic football. With a rich heritage of table-top gaming, Blood Bowl is poised to tear your Windows PC, Xbox 360 and PSP system a new end zone. With turn-based gameplay and each play teetering on the roll of the dice, Blood Bowl will keep you on the edge of your seat from kickoff to final score. Inspired by the infamous Warhammer® series, Blood Bowl brings some of the most vicious gameplay, dirty tricks and lest we forget – secret weapons – to the field in an all new way.
“We’re thrilled to have a part in bringing a proper retail version of Blood Bowl to North American gamers on Windows PC, Xbox 360 and PSP.” said Aubrey Norris, Manager of Human-Orc Relations at SouthPeak. “It’s never easy to get all these races to agree on something – but if there’s one thing they love its good competition with a lot of bloodshed!”
Blood Bowl’s retail Windows PC and Xbox 360 packages will kick-off in January 2010 with the PSP system version taking the field in Spring of 2010. If you’ve never seen a goblin thrown into the end zone by a troll to score a touchdown, then prepare to be amazed! More details are sure to pop up as the teams get themselves in order and the pre-season action begins.
As you may have seen by now, Destructoid and a number of outer outlets have posted their games of the year. The usual suspects were all in attendance — games like New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Modern Warfare 2, and of course Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
With only ten spaces on your traditional GotY nominations list, there are plenty of games that got forgotten. Fortunately, Destructoid never forgets, and while our winners have been named, we felt it only right to pay tribute to the games of 2009 that are not getting their due honors this year.
There are a number of games that would have been just as welcome on any GotY listing, but didn’t make the cut due to bad luck or fickle, forgetful minds. It is with great pleasure, then, that I give to you our top ten games that didn’t make Game of the Year 2009. Written in conjunction with Jonathan Holmes, I proudly present to you our list of the ten games you better not forget!
Do you like free stuff? Of course you do. Sometimes you even take free stuff when you don’t want it, simply because it is free. A train whistle might be a good example of this. Well, if you’re in the mood to get something free that you may or may not want and you own a PSP then Sony has got a deal for you. To get people excited for the PSP’s digital comic store, which is landing next month, the company is giving away a free comic.
If you want to read an issues of Star Trek: Year Four – The Enterprise Experiment then boot up your PSP, download the digital comic reader, head into the Playstation Store and enter this code: 724K-A4BG-JLD7. Comic! In your hands. Done and done. Get to reading. If Star Trek ain’t your bag, baby, don’t fear. Sony will be handing out more free comics via the Playstation comics site and Twitter. It should also be pointed out that the Star Trek comic can only be downloaded for free until Dec. 16, which hints at when we might be seeing the comic store go live.
Koei Tecmo has today announced Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce 2. The original PSP version is currently in the works for PS3 and Xbox 360, but that hasn’t stopped the almighty sequel masters from declaring a brand new one, scheduled for Spring 2010.
Shin Sangoku Musou Multi Raid 2, as it is known in Japan, shall release with an all-new story mode, new characters, a new weapon system and, most importantly, a crucial online mode. The lack of online is what let down the original co-op PSP title, which could have been the best DW game ever were it included.
This is good stuff. Strikeforce was a great shot in the arm of the hack n’ slash series, but it really needed to be able to go online. This should lead to a great game, if you like that sort of thing.
The VGAs may be looked at with cynicism and contempt by a great many among the gamer community, but there’s no denying that it’s about as mainstream an award show as we’re going to get. With that in mind, the nominations are in, and we now get to see who’s vying for the biggest accolades that Spike TV has to offer.
Game of the Year is between Assassin’s Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Left 4 Dead 2 and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Best PS3 game is between inFAMOUS, Killzone 2, Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time and Uncharted 2. Best Xbox 360 game nominees are Arkham Asylum, Halo 3: ODST, Forza Motorsport 3 and Left 4 Dead 2. For the Wii we have New Super Mario Bros. Wii, MadWorld, Punch-Out! and Wii Sports Resort. The PC contenders are Dragon Age: Origins, Left 4 Dead 2, Plants vs. Zombies and The Sims 3.
It’s interesting to note that the 360 nominees include multiplatform games, one of which (Arkham) was better on the PS3. 2009 really was the killer year for PS3 exclusives.
On a personal note, I’m asking everyone to vote for Demon’s Souls as RPG of the year. The very fact it’s a nominee is amazing, but it would be incredible to see the game win. It truly, truly deserves it, even though I know in my hear that Borderlands or Dragon Age will probably beat it.
Anyway, go check out the nominations, vote, and let us know who you’re rooting for.
If you woke up this morning with a group of mixed martial arts fighter planes to think, today’s creed 2 is your lucky day. Ubisoft, because the promotion has professional soldiers that elusive MMA links to the upcoming titles, it is actually quite interesting.
“When I’m in a cage, no one here, I can rely on,” said, “this is the Brighton villa assassins. In his own. Basically, you like value.”
Of course, I’ll buy that. The assassin have something with MMA fighter, according to the video: respectable, he knelt in his fist nut, people’s face, you don’t want them off. See? Exactly the same thing.
Today is a trailer was also release assassin creed: lineages, portable title game players in shoes from the first champion. “Trailer is parachuting, both sides, if you like to see someone jumped buildings, so that they can, of course, they stab playboys is for you.
How to say, this game is to compare the biggest selling point of view, the comparison is exquisite, if you play a game: or you fanatic, then you should choose the game, you will choose the game for you, you feel well worth your waiting for any player, so good game? Don’t you enchanted? Well I’ll introduce here, you will find yourself by exploring the players.
It’s an established fact that if you like one thing, you must hate everything else. You cannot enjoy two of any similar item in this world, which is why bisexuality has been scientifically proven not to exist. With this in mind, I have had to choose between my PSP and DS, and with the decision made, I promptly tossed my DS in the trash where it belongs, because the PSP is best.
Don’t believe me? Of course you don’t, because you’re a biased fanboy, which makes you worse than a racist and a murderer combined. Fortunately, I am the Chef of Righteousness, feeding you truth soup with a spoon fashioned out of pure fact, so I invite you all into my Kitchen of Not Being Wrong About Videogames so that you might get your fill of delicious correctness.
Read on to earn the wisdom you need, and accept that the PSP is blatantly better than the DS.
The first and most obvious point is that the PSP is simply better designed than the DS. While the DS has had only a mere three redesigns (the DS, the DS Lite and the DSi), we lucky Sony fans have had the PSP 1000, the PSP 2000, the PSP 3000 and the PSPgo, each one more brilliant than the last. With one more model than the DS, this means that Sony’s handheld is one better than Nintendo’s paltry, under-designed machine.
Sony has had four attempts to perfect the PSP, meaning it’s slightly closer to perfection (and therefore, closer to God), than the DS will ever be. A constant redesign is the most important thing a portable system needs in order to succeed, far more important than trivial things like games. Nintendo needs to get its priorities straight if it hopes to stand a chance against the mighty PlayStation Portable.
When the DSi launched, everybody fell over themselves with glee over DSiWare, believing this would be the innovation to turn the DS’ fortunes around and finally make it better and more successful than the PSP. As usual, however, the fanboys were wrong and the PSP is still champion while the DS is a CHUMPion, which is the opposite of champion actually. DSiWare is shit, and only has downloadable clocks on the service. PSP Minis, on the other hand, is better, because it will probably have less clocks on it which proves it’s superior.
Just to show you all that DSiWare is crap, I looked at some of the games that the Nintendo loyalists were claiming made DsiWare worth having. Of course, they were lying and when I saw the offerings they had, I laughed so hard that a bit of red came out with my urine all week, which I’m assuming is normal when you’ve laughed a lot. Here are the supposedly “best” games that the DSi has to offer:
Flipnote Studo: I can already make animations by drawing on paper and waving it around in front of my face while making ghost noises. I do it regularly, in fact. I don’t need to spend money on this, whatever it costs (probably fifteen bucks)
Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again: Sonic is blatantly better than Mario. Hmm, maybe there’s something to that …
Mighty Flip Champs: All puzzle games are shite, and people who say they’re good are just pretending out of fear of looking stupid. Well, I’m not afraid to look stupid and I say puzzle games can go to Hell! Unless it’s Lumines of course, which is good because it’s on the PSP.
WarioWare Snapped: More like WankioHair Crapped!
